Our Standards

Respectful Conversations Matter.

Our community is built on respectful dialogue and constructive discussion. The goal is conversation, not conflict.

Members are expected to follow these guidelines in all discussions, comments, and interactions within the Fayette County Discussions community.

1

Respect and Value All Voices

Every opinion and perspective is welcome here, regardless of political affiliation. We celebrate the diverse range of views that make our discussions so dynamic.

2

Independent and Inclusive

Fayette County Discussions is an independent group, free from association with any specific political committee or candidate. Our aim is to foster civil and engaging conversations without any political affiliations influencing our dialogue.

3

Embrace Free Speech

We firmly believe in First Amendment rights, protecting the freedom of speech, expression, and assembly for all citizens. This cornerstone of our democracy allows us to share our thoughts and ideas without fear of censorship or reprisal.

4

Promote Healthy Debate

We encourage the respectful exchange of ideas and opinions on a wide range of topics relevant to Fayette County.

5

Learning and Growth

Let's learn from each other, challenge ideas respectfully, and continue to build a vibrant and inclusive community.

6

No Hate Speech or Bullying

Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated.

7

Avoid Ad Hominem Attacks

In this community, we embrace free speech and welcome a range of opinions and perspectives. However, please refrain from engaging in Ad hominem attacks. Ad hominem, meaning "to the person" in Latin, occurs when individuals attack the person making an argument instead of addressing the argument itself. Focus on discussing ideas and issues with civility and respect. Feel free to express your opinions about public figures and politicians, including former individuals who have been in office.

Remember: The goal is conversation, not conflict. When we engage with respect and good faith, we build the kind of community that makes Fayette County stronger for everyone.
