SCOTTDALE, PA โ Water rescue crews and first responders from Fayette and Westmoreland counties mobilized along the county line near Chaintown Road following reports of multiple swimmers swept away at the Creek Falls area of Jacobs Creek.
According to initial 911 dispatch reports, emergency units were alerted after three juveniles and one adult entered the water to swim and were quickly caught in strong, turbulent currents. Eyewitnesses on the bank notified emergency services after losing visual contact with the group.
Specialized swift-water rescue teams, local volunteer fire departments, and emergency management personnel established a search perimeter along both sides of the creek. Responders deployed boats and shore-line spotters to systematically search downstream pools and drop-offs.
Creek Falls is known locally for deep ledges and deceptive underwater undertows during high-volume flow conditions. Local emergency officials urge the public to exercise extreme caution near waterways and obey posted safety warnings.
