UNIONTOWN — Procedural delays in the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas have postponed the trial of the individual charged in the fatal shooting of 20-year-old LeMaur Thompson, drawing renewed public pleas for swift judicial resolution from Thompson's family and community advocates.
Thompson's death shocked the Uniontown community, and recent pre-trial continuances granted to allow for pre-trial evidentiary motions and expert scheduling have pushed the trial date back into the court's upcoming fall term.
"We just want justice for my son, and every delay feels like starting the grieving process all over again," stated Thompson's mother during a public inquiry regarding the case status. "LeMaur had his entire life ahead of him. We need our court system to ensure this trial moves forward without endless postponements."
Fayette County court administrators confirmed that an updated pre-trial status conference will be scheduled during the next criminal court session to establish a firm trial date.
