DUNBAR, PA β The Fayette County Fair is wrapping up another week of agriculture, entertainment, food and family activities as residents from throughout the county come together for one of the region's longtime summer traditions.
County fairs provide an opportunity to celebrate agriculture and rural life while giving families a place to gather during the summer.
For young exhibitors, the fair can also represent months of preparation.
Livestock exhibitors, 4-H members and other participants spend considerable time preparing animals, projects and displays before the fair begins.
More Than a Fair
The annual event also provides an economic boost to vendors, food operators, entertainers and other businesses participating in the week.
For families, however, the attraction is often much simpler: rides, food, games, animals, friends and memories.
Events such as the Fayette County Fair are an important reminder that community traditions remain an important part of life in southwestern Pennsylvania.
As another fair week comes to an end, attention will turn toward the remaining summer events and the beginning of the fall community calendar.
Fayette County Discussions will continue highlighting local festivals, fairs, fundraisers and community events throughout the county.
