North Union Township Man Arraigned Following Alleged Armed Robbery and Extortion Scheme

A 34-year-old North Union Township man, Ryan Miciotto, has been arraigned on charges including robbery with threat of serious bodily injury and theft after Pennsylvania State Police allege he and others held a victim at gunpoint and forced electronic funds transfers exceeding $4,000.
NORTH UNION TWP., PA — A 34-year-old Fayette County man remains behind bars following a criminal investigation into an alleged armed robbery and extortion scheme in North Union Township.
Ryan Miciotto was formally arraigned in district court on multiple charges, including robbery with threat of immediate serious bodily injury, theft by unlawful taking, and simple assault.
According to criminal complaints filed by the Pennsylvania State Police, troopers responded to reports of a violent encounter occurring on Friday evening. Investigators report that the victim was held against his will by a group armed with a revolver and other weapons. Police contend that the assailants forced the victim to execute electronic funds transfers exceeding $4,000 before releasing him.
State police also confirmed that personal property and firearms were removed from the victim's personal vehicle during the encounter. Miciotto was remanded to the Fayette County Prison after failing to post bail. Preliminary hearings are scheduled in Fayette County Magisterial District Court.
