UNIONTOWN, PA โ€” The Uniontown Amateur Radio Club is celebrating a remarkable milestone this year with the 75th Annual GABFEST.

The longtime community event brings together amateur-radio operators, hobbyists, vendors, families and visitors for a day centered around radio communication and the people who make the hobby possible.

The event is more than an opportunity to buy, sell or exchange equipment.

It represents decades of volunteerism and community involvement.

Organizations that remain active for 75 years become part of the fabric of the communities they serve.

A Tradition Built on Volunteers

Amateur radio has long provided opportunities for people to learn about communications technology, make connections across geographic boundaries and develop technical skills.

Local clubs also provide an important social component, giving people with shared interests a place to gather and exchange knowledge.

Events like GABFEST help introduce the hobby to new generations while maintaining traditions established by earlier club members.

Celebrating Community

Fayette County has a long history of civic clubs, service organizations, churches, veterans groups, fraternal organizations and other volunteer organizations.

Those groups contribute countless hours to events and activities that strengthen local communities.

The 75th anniversary of GABFEST is an opportunity to recognize that tradition of volunteerism.

Fayette County Discussions congratulates the Uniontown Amateur Radio Club on 75 years and recognizes the volunteers who have helped keep the organization and event going for generations.
